Tamarindorentals.com came to be in 1995 when Julius Kudelka, a pioneer in Tamarindo moved to a tiny surf town with only a single dusty dirt road before anyone saw the potential or could have imagined that 30 years later Tamarindo would be the Number 1 tourist destination in Costa Rica. Julius and I are repurposing this important domain name as a community business resource and news platform focused on Guanacaste for the benefit of all that have made Guanacaste their home and center of livelihood. It is designed for visitors and residents alike.

I drove down from Boston in 2004 and opened Cafe Internet Nany behind the super Lopez in Brasilito with 10 networked computers through a dial up modem. When the teachers from the nearby newly opened Country day school kept arriving at my cafe because their new $100k fiber optic wide area network was not working at the start of their new school year, I was asked to investigate, solved the problems and was summarily hired. After working at the school as technical director I started a web design and digital marketing company taking as clients the owner of a fledgling real estate company named Blue Water Properties and my current partner Julius Kudelka, the developer of the fabulous Mango Condominium complex in Tamarindo. Ultimately I began accepting contracts from the Costa Rican government’s tourism board promoting medical tourism to Costa Rica. Bringing us to the present day

 Thank you for visiting. This domain was secured 16 years ago by my partner Julius which is amazing foresight considering what a technically challenged but otherwise solid human being he is and pretty smart as he hired me fifteen years ago to manage his technical affairs and promote his rental real estate. We have been sitting on this important domain waiting for the right moment and vehicle. That time is now. I first visited Tamarindo 20 years ago and arrived at night to a simple surf town with one main dirt road and a dusty mess. Who knew that based on a love for surf, perfect conditions for beginner and expert surfers and an eclectic bohemian vibe and innate beauty that Tamarindo would become the number one tourist destination in the country for all the right reasons. This makes my partners foresight border on genius as at the heart of this town is the pulsing and vibrant daily commerce associated with…. You guessed it, Rentals. Whether it’s a surfboard, a motor scooter, a beachfront mansion or a hotel room this town turns on rentals. The magic happens mainly because it still retains that Small surf town vibe but now with an eclectic hum of activity surrounding it. Before you eschew progress I will explain why I’m happy about it. The increase of economc activity has attracted some of the best and the brightest in the hospitality industry. So my favorite spot on the beach ten years ago #witchsrock now offers great home brews and sushi prepared by a sushi master and remains my favorite most notably their outdoor chickee bar #Elvaquero Which remains the best spot to view the beach and surf action. Beach volleyball and people of all ages passing by carrying surfboards is quite cool. Don’t miss it. Thank you for visiting and if you have the slightest interest in Costa Rica I recommend bookmarking this page as like Tamarindo it will be a cool and lively place and we are committed to capturing the essence of this destination until you pull the trigger and come down and experience it for yourself.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.20.0″ module_alignment=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_video src=”https://youtu.be/T1plJnQlWdM” _builder_version=”4.20.0″ module_alignment=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_video][et_pb_team_member name=”Rodgers H Bestgen” position=”Editor” image_url=”https://www.tamarindorentals.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/la-loca.jpg” facebook_url=”https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100010282336778″ twitter_url=”https://twitter.com/Tamrentals” linkedin_url=”https://www.linkedin.com/in/rodgersbestgen1/” _builder_version=”4.20.0″ header_text_color=”#000000″ header_font_size=”21px” global_colors_info=”{}”]

I arrived at the Hotel Brasilito 18 years ago this August after a tragic year for my family. I was looking for a new life and a fresh start like so many ex pats I’ve met here. I chose a country I had visited only once and fell in love with. I immediately recognized the potential and opportunity in this beautiful country, However the lifestyle was the main appeal. After an 11 day journey from Boston in my oil wheezing Jeep Cherokee full of computer equipment and my memorable black Lab Weimaraner, Seikan I arrived at Brasilito Beach. The day of my arrival was memorable as it was the day the Costa Rican Government mustered the political will and sent 15 policemen armed with machine guns to take back the Flamingo Marina concession from the hands of the bad actors running it into the ground. Wild West days indeed!

While some of those bad actors are still around, the overall climate has become less shadowy and more favorable to families looking for a change. Making it is still tough here without a softening and slowing of attitude (my fellow Americans) and if you have to make a living here even tougher although definitely possible as I’ve seen it done. Go Lisa!

With a little help from my friends posts here will be both positive, useful, and with luck, entertaining.

Rodgers Bestgen

Jun 2023

[/et_pb_team_member][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ use_custom_gutter=”on” gutter_width=”4″ specialty=”on” parallax_method_1=”off” parallax_method_2=”off” _builder_version=”4.18.0″ background_color=”#070e84″ background_enable_image=”off” custom_padding=”0px||0px|” custom_padding_tablet=”0px||0px|” transparent_background=”off” padding_mobile=”on” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.20.0″ text_font=”Source Sans Pro|on|||” text_text_color=”#ffffff” text_font_size=”24″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” text_orientation=”center” module_alignment=”center” custom_margin=”25px||4px|” hover_enabled=”0″ use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

Respect our hosts,
